As to NATO's great background as to their competencies in combat, rescue and just peacekeeping; look around the world where they have been involved and look at the outcomes they have left and if you need further proof, read "Shake Hands With the Devil" written by the NATO General in command during the genocide in Rwanda

Loved your response! I am so grateful for the men and women who serve our country, but I cannot be more annoyed when - women especially - whine about having to serve because they now have children, young or old!

Most recruiters don't ask if you have kids. I know because a friend of mine went to sign up for the reserves she was never ask about any thing except marital status, if she could take a short test. she has two kids. She did this as a test because of recent article. Luckily she did not pass the physical but they were going to allow her to join. As a ex miltary wife they don't care if you have children to join as long as you fulfill your duties. the problem is not weather a mother should serve it is if she sould serve in a war. When young children are involved I feel their should be a exeption. Would you like to tell a three year old mommy is not coming home. young children need thier mothers alot more than thier fathers.

when I was on active duty with the U.S.A. I had to remove a young lady from active duty and place her on reserve status (she had the option of either going reserve with the demand that she find others to keep her children if called to active duty or to remove herself from the U.S.A.) she was pregnant for the first time. Fortunately for child she was carrying she chose to remove herself from the U.S.A. Today, is quite different as the U.S.A. even probably has pregnant clothing for the ladies. BUT WHEN I was in it was quite different. That young lady chose to join the military and go where and when told to. It is not the military fault she is pregnant and has children, she signed a CONTRACT stating that she would go when and where her orders for her to do this AS STATED.

Way to go Chris, the answer you gave is very sensible and good advice, as a 20 year military retiree, I am all for fulfilling commitments, that are made to the military, whether it be male or female. I was in the military during the draft age of our country, but choose to volunteer for 5 enlistments and did not expect any concessions from the military while I was serving. The lady needs to fulfill her commitment.

things change and when you join the service and get out with a honorable discharge. you do not stop your life and not have a family because of you commitment. i have always though that when you fight for your country and you are Honorable discharge and when you have enough people in the service the very last people you would call is your reserves. I keep hearing that we more than enough people in the service joining. She shoud be giving a job in the stay not over seas.
